May 2010 Update - Version 3.1.5.1

Postby linn_systems on Tue Jun 01, 2010 11:01 am

New features
My Inventory screen - the screen allows you to create new stock items, edit existing directly from the grid. You can also adjust location based stock levels perform bulk updates. The screen is located in Inventory > My Inventory
Inventory Dashboard - the dashboard allows you view total stock level and value for each location at any point in time. You can export the data into csv format.
Stock items stats - the stock items stats shows you stock consumption for the last 90 days, sales for each day and sold stock value. You can access the stock items stats screen from Inventory dashboard by accessing by double clicking a stock item line.
Automation - Execute External Program - the automation module allows you to execute VB script, executable or any windows command during the synchronization.
Query Data - you can now execute direct data queries directly from Linnworks. There are some prebuilt queries available. More will be added as we go along.
Data Import routines - Item compositions and Batch stock item update/insert import routines

Bug fixes
eBay order item variants - when order downloaded with variants the system used to combine them by item id. So when a customer purchased two different variants off the same listing the system would combine them into one variant
Amazon mark as despatched - order despatch notifications are now submitted as a batch to amazon to save time and provide greate scalability of the system. The despatch notification is now logged in the audit trail

Its like the olden days of software when each new release added loads of exciting new features and improvements - must say I am amazed at how rapidly it is moving along.

On a separate note is there a web page that says what the mini updates are doing or do we not need to know - a bit like MS have the KB12345 type articles

This looks great. Can you tell me where I change the default VAT rate for products please? What is it set to as default?

My Inventory is a big improvement. I can change the stocklevel and stuff easily for each locations.
Another thing I like much is the Mobile Plug In. The mobile plugin tutorial is great which was missing in the past.
Good work!

I love the new inventory dashboard.

Query Data is perfect - exactly what I needed for along time. We had a SQL Server consultant for 3 days (costs a fortune) to write a whole bunch of queries and reports for us. Is it possible to add these queries to the Query Data so that I don't have to hunt them down and copy + paste into the custom script? And another thing - how can I have parameter selection for a custom scripts? It would be ideal if we could have our reports embeded.

Overall this update is absolutely spot on!!! Thank you very much.

Can I suggest that new releases are perhaps announced documented in a different way

Announce on here and on twitter but with - or also with - a link to a web page - that shows all the updates in order with the new to the top

Why?

You are working and developing linn daily.

Someone like myself might do some development on how we use the system the leave it running as is for 3 months and then come back to it and it would be good to see the changes on a single web page

This way would also allow you to make changes to the web page - rather than forum replies to forum replies improving what you have said and it becomes harder and harder to get the info out that we need.

You could also add to this web page details of the minor updates

You could also add better notes about any changes and links to new documentation etc

I think you get the idea

My inventory is loads better and I assume will replace Stock adjustment and stock item which were horrible to use a an unpleasant split - hurrah

I am not sure whether the levels should also be adjustable in the edit box - I sort of think they should be but have only just started looking at it - it would mean that I could be focussing on just that item and the numbers related to it rather than numbers in a grid

We handle a lot of item that come none bar coded - maybe the print barcode option should be here also - I have not used this feature yet since it was not there last time I had a linn look and play. I am assuming that you can set a different printer for it to use.

I would like the title of the item at the very top to be in bold and even a different font from the rest of the pop up box

It needs a refresh automatically or a button since it does not pick up when an amazon order is first linked

Maybe it does it when a new order comes in if it is already linked - not got that far

Okay now I have looked more - levels should be adjustable in the pop up box

There might be an argument for the grid always being read only and not only because it keeps on crashing on me when moving around it - lovely to see the new error reporting though - perhaps change the message to something like - reporting errors helps with blah blah - can you tell us what you were doing just before blah blah

all the stock levels are adjustable in the My Inventory screen directly. The screen doesn't actually crash - there is a whole load of data validation going on at the backend, if you keyed anything in incorrectly the system then passes it to the server to validate which in turn will throw an exception.
